New Round of Indo-Pacific Connectivity: Challenge of the Ukraine and Taiwan Crises

YCAPS is excited to announce our next event in Fussa. This event will feature Dr. Tomonori Yoshizaki who will lead us in a discussion on the Challenges brought by Ukraine and Taiwan Crises.
The ongoing war in Ukraine and increasing likelihood of a military crisis around Taiwan are critical security issues of our day. As nations struggle to respond appropriately, they are concluding that strengthening partnership among like-minded countries is a useful part of their strategies. This is ushering in a new round of Indo-Pacific connectivity that improving ties within the region and with other regions, especially Europe. Professor Yoshizaki, a leader with a long history as one of Japan's leading scholars teaching strategy to military officers and government officials, will explore these dynamics and take your questions.

Tomonori (Tom) Yoshizaki teaches at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. He previously served as vice president for academic affairs of the National Institute for Defence Studies (NIDS) of Japan where he oversaw professional military education (PME) and research activities. Prior to that position, he was Director of Policy Simulation and Director of Security Studies Department at NIDS and an assistant director of Office of Strategic Studies of Japan MoD in 1998-99. Prof. Yoshizaki has been a visiting fellow and professor at King’s College London, the Hudson Institute, Japan's Self-Defense Forces Staff Colleges; Sophia University, International Christian University (ICU), and National Graduate Research Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS).
