YCAPS organized a happy hour at the annual International Studies Association conference in Chicago on Sunday 2nd March. The happy hour brought together around 40 academics working on the Indo-Pacific in some way, with a particular focus on maritime security.

The two-hour event reflected the degree of interest in the Indo-Pacific from around the world, with attendees coming from the UK, Australia, USA, Europe, Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia and Brazil.

Two YCAPS researchers also presented at the conference. Hanh Nguyen (research fellow) presented her work on economic crises and Vietnam. Scott Edwards (research fellow) presented his work on ASEAN’s diplomatic practice.
