Indo-Pacific Policy Dialogue on American Indian Ocean Strategy

Asst. Prof. Jeffrey Payne and Dr. Premesha Saha spoke to an audience on the topic of Indian Ocean strategy for the YCAPS-JICUF Indo-Pacific Policy Dialogue series, co-hosted with Temple University's Institute for Contemporary Asian Studies.

For our August Indo-Pacific Dialogue Policy seminar, YCAPS was pleased to invite Asst. Prof. Jeffrey Payne of Near East South Asia (NESA) Center for Strategic Studies to speak on America Indian Ocean strategy, within the larger context of its Indo-Pacific strategy. Mr. Payne was joined by Dr. Premesha Saha, Japan Foundation Indo-Pacific Partnership Fellow, who offered an Indian view of US policy in the region. The session was held in-person at Temple University's Japan campus, co-hosted with Temple University's Institute for Contemporary Asian Studies. This session provided policymakers, scholars, and enthusiasts with a valuable opportunity to gain deep insights into the intricate dynamics of Russian politics and its specific impact on the Indo-Pacific region.

During the session, both Mr. Payne and Dr. Saha engaged with the audience by answering numerous questions, fostering an interactive and enlightening discussion. This allowed attendees to delve deeper into the subject matter and explore specific aspects of recent US Indo-Pacific strategy in the Indian Ocean area, further enhancing the session's value. The session was moderated by Dr. John Bradford, Executive Director of YCAPS and ICAS Academic Fellow.
