On Monday June 13th Dr. April Herlevi led a discussion on China's economic and national security policy, with a focus on The Peoples Republic of China (PRC), and how its technological acquisition goals are reflected in its national security laws and policy. Also covered were the methods through which the national security laws were enhanced to apply to the unique situation in Hong Kong, and the implications for Taiwan's relationship with the PRC. The relationship between the United States and China was also discussed as it relates to sanctions and other reactions to China’s actions in acquiring technology and facilitating Belt and Road initiatives worldwide.
This was the inaugural in-person event for YCAPS' Okinawa, and we look forward to many more stimulating, community-building events to come!
