Tobias Harris, author of the only english-language biography of Prime Minister Abe Shinzo lead a seminar for nearly one hundred participants. He described his inspiration for the book, his general evaluation of Abe's legacy, and place Abe as a leading figure interacting with the contemporary Japanese political landscape. Much of the discussion focused on Abe's achievements and shortcomings relative to his status of a source of continuity and stability as Japan's longest-serving Prime Minister. Participants generally acknowledged his strengths and a stand-out global statesman, but had mixed views of his performance as a dmestic leader who was able implement his socio-economic reform agenda. Harris will return for another YCAPS-JUMP webinar at 7:30 PM (Japan Standard Time), 21 Oct 2020.
