YCAPS and East-West Center Publish Series on Pacific Maritime Governance

The collection of eleven articles explores issue-areas and regional and partner countries' objectives, policies and challenges in the Pacific relating to maritime governance.

YCAPS and the East-West Center (EWC) in Washington recently collaborated to publish a collection of eleven briefs on Pacific maritime governance. Titled “Parter & Regional Perspectives on Pacific Maritime Governance”, the collection is published as an EWC Asia Pacific Bulletin series. It can be accessed here.

The Pacific has been increasingly marked by the growing engagement of Indo-Pacific and external states to the region. The series analyzes their objectives and seeks to clarify opportunities for maritime governance.

Three of the briefs examine specific issues-areas. The remaining eight analyze a regional or partner country’s goals and policies, resources they can contribute, and the challenges they face.

The collection is the result of a YCAPS workshop held on September 18th, 2024. During the workshop, the international team of experts presented their papers and commented on each other’s ideas, offering valuable insights and discussions. The papers were edited by John Bradford and Gabriela Wurst.

In addition to the authors of the papers, the project team included:

  • John Bradford, YCAPS (Project Supervisor)
  • Constantine Panayiotou, American Chamber of Commerce Fiji/YCAPS (Principal Investigator)
  • Jenna Heavenrich Lindeke, Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow, Ocean Policy Research Institute (Project Advisor)
  • Gabriela Wurst, YCAPS (Project Coordinator)

YCAPS is grateful for this collaboration with EWC. We also sincerely thank the team experts and team members.
