Kamakura Gozan Zen Temple Walk

Richard Walton will lead a group of both YCAPS and Japan Expert Insights members on a historic walk in Kamakura. The theme and route
of the walk will follow the five main Zen Buddhist temples of Kamakura (also called the Kamakura Gozan). General information can be

The itinerary for the day:
・09:00 – Meet at the entrance to Engakuji Temple next to JR Kita-Kamakura Station
・AM – Visits to Four Zen Temples
・Lunch in the Kamakura Station area (bring your own bagged lunch, or buy something quick from one of the shops)
・PM Visit to the Fifth Zen Temple in the Kamakura Station area
・16:30 event ends at JR Kamakura Station (some participants may choose to gather for refreshments and networking, but this is outside the official scope of the event)
Participants should be prepared for approximately 4-5 hours of walking. Break opportunities will be limited to facilities at temples and the free time for lunch in the Kamakura Station area. This walk is not overly strenuous; however, it may be unsuitable for small children or those with physical limitations. The group size will be limited so please RSVP early.

Cost: Entrance fees are estimated to be around 1,300 yen. Neither the organizers nor tour guides will collect money or pay for entrance fees.
