Ryan Ashley
Research Fellow
Ryan Ashley is a PhD Candidate at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, and an active duty intelligence officer in the United States Air Force. His research examines the deepening security relations between Japan and the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Ryan is also a Fellow with the Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI) and an adjunct lecturer with the United States Air Force Special Operations School, teaching on Japanese and Southeast Asian security and politics. He received a BA in History and Public Policy from George Washington University, a Masters in Security Studies from Angelo State University, and an MA in Asian Studies from Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service. He speaks professional Japanese and conversational Thai.
