    YCAPS Sasebo Historical Walking Tour:

    w/ Guide Phil Eakins 

     

    Join YCAPS to enjoy a guided historical walking tour of Sasebo Naval Base! Founded in 1883, Sasebo Naval Base has had a storied history, first as a base for the Imperial Japanese Navy, and now for the U.S. Navy and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. Local history expert Phil Eakins, who has researched and wrote on the history of Sasebo for decades, and has led dozens of similar tours in the past, will lead the tour. Following the tour, the group will convene for an optional lunch on-base at the Harbor View Club.

     

    The itinerary for the day:

     

    11:00 – Meet outside the main gate of Commander, Fleet Activities Sasebo (Google Maps).

    11:15 – Begin historical walking tour.

    12:00 (approx.) – Optional drinks/snacks at Bayside Food Court.

    13:00 – Lunch at Harbor View Club.

All attendees must be either U.S. or Japanese Citizens. All attendees will also need to bring their CAC, Passport, Japanese Driver’s License, or My Number Card on the day of the event.

    Cost:  Free of Charge. YCAPS will subsidize lunch at the Harbor View Club up to $10 per person *Other food & beverages will be the responsibility of individual participants.
